CCSS Methodology
CCSS strives to develop products/tools/utilities using SDLC methodology - Rational Unified process for its clients/customers. RUP is a process by which user requirements are elicited and software satisfying these requirements is designed, built, tested and delivered to the client. RUP Process is used when a new application is being developed or a major enhancement is being done to an existing application. CCSS would concentrate at least three of the below mentioned disciplined if in case of minor change in the client system setup.
CCSS uses RUP as a major tool for streamlining its development efforts which happens at different phases of project.
Rational Unified Process:
The four phases of RUP are
  • 1. Inception.
  • 2. Technical Design - Elaboration.
  • 3. Construction - Coding
  • 4. Transition
Phase 1- Project Initiation (Inception): This is the explanatory phase of the project. Project scope namely in-scope and out-of-scope are described at this stage. In this phase, CCSS professional collects and understand business requirements, detail the project plan and agree upon a high level statement of work. This would help to identify the project's primary objectives, assumptions, constraints, deliverables and acceptance criteria leading to a mutual agreement between CCSS and its client.
Phase 2- Technical Design (Elaboration): In this phase, the architecture of the system is designed. The goal is to translate requirements and specification into a technical solution to produce Technical Design. High-level requirements are drilled down to low-level requirement using different tools like use-case diagram, ERD diagram, activity diagram etc. based on the nature of work.
Phase 3- Construction: In this phase, complete development of the system based upon the baselined architecture takes place. In larger projects, several construction iterations will be developed in order to divide the use cases into manageable segments that produce demonstrable prototypes.
Phase 4- Transition: This phase includes testing of the product in preparation of release and fine tuning the product and taking care of issues like configuring, installing and usability issues. The focus of this phase is to ensure that software is available for its end users.
Phase 5- Post Project Support: Specific timeframe in which CCSS professionals support and fixes bugs encountered in the functioning of the system. Very soon CCSS would be implementing "Change Request" approach in support phase in order to streamline the priorities for client requirements.
